To say I've struggled with this month's project would be an understatement -- yet, that's the idea! The Cup of Bead Soup and Bead Soup Blog Party projects were born to foster creativity, to force working outside normal comfort levels with beads and components one wouldn't normally use. You can flip back through my blog to see what I accomplished with other artists' beads to get an idea.
This time, though, I REALLY jumped beyond my creative boundaries, right into the No Man's Land of beading.
Would you believe me if I told you, when you first saw the beads above, that I was going to use a river rock with some of them?
I wouldn't have believed myself, either.
You see, I was getting ready to make a charm bracelet with some tiny river rock charms, and while I was rooting through my stash, I came across this piece I bought at BeadFest. I bought it thinking, "oh yeah, I could dangle something from there" and then forgot I had it. A light bulb went off, though, and I grabbed a vintage brass bead, some twisted brass wire, a few brass filigree bead caps, some chain, and there you go.... "River Rock Magic".
The last piece is a stunner, but you'll have to wait for November 30th for that one!

ReplyDeletePretty, pretty, pretty, Lori!
ReplyDeleteThe beads are gorgeous and they pair beautifully with the river rock!
ReplyDeleteYOWZA! That is an amazing piece. Who would have thought that you could make a piece of rock look that outstanding!
ReplyDeleteIt's so different from your usual style and I love that you stretched your creative boundaries that way. The twisted wire is a great accent choice! The whole piece is just lovely!
ReplyDeletetriple beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty and SO unique. I love the thread/knotting you used!!
ReplyDeleteLORI! Holy cow! This is so awesome. I am amazed. These beads are beautiful but this definitely a case where the whole is far greater than the sum of the parts. That wire you used looks like some kind of cord and adds to the rustic feel of the river rock. Perfect! I love the whole thing. It's just beautiful and truly amazed me! --SallyA

ReplyDeleteI would have never visualized this when you described how you used a river rock! What a beauty - and I have to hand it to you for really thinking outside the box!
ReplyDeleteThat river rock rocks! And so do you. So outside the box and so wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI like the trendy and casual design which should be very favourite with the young generations who like to wear very neutral looks with their jeans and tops.
