A New Page

I keep saying I'm going to do it, but I'm really going to do it.  If the past few weeks have taught me nothing else, it's that life is short and there's no time like the present.  So I started writing my memoirs today.

This beautiful journal was a gift from Cindy at ArtBliss and it begged for immediate words on the page.  I also got another journal from my friend Anne and I took that as a sign.  Time to write!

(Edited: OMG.  Do you see the word "PIE" on my coffee cup?  That HAS to be a good omen!)

The weather is turning towards the absolute best fall temperatures, and I sat outside my favorite coffee shop in the sunlight, stopping often just to BREATHE.  Have you ever just concentrated on a long, deep breath, one that completely fills your lungs with life?  I did a lot of that.  (Thankfully, I knew enough not to hyperventilate!)

Of course, there's always a wrinkle, and I'm entering the busiest time of year for business, so time to really dig into things will be stolen between tagging jewelry and doing shows, but STARTING .... starting feels good.

What will you start today?

Proud of you for taking the time to breathe and for yourself. There is never enough time but its what you do with what you have that matters.Smart woman said that.

You asked what I started today.Well today I enrolled in GED classes.I decided that if im gonna ever have a career and not a job I needed to make some changes and the first is education.(Thats what I get for skipping out on finishing school to work my "dream job' at 16.At 16 minimum wage was alot of money. At 20 not so much at all!)I wish you knew how much inspiration you were to me and all the women in the cafe to do this. Thanks:) <3

  5. I tend to stay away from that kind of book unless I know the person. That being said I can't wait to read your memoirs!

  10. Wonderful! I really hope that you will make it through your memoirs. I know they will be a fascinating read. And (although I haven't written myself) I know that writing can be truly cathartic. Best of luck Lori!

  13. Wow, it sounds like you had a wonderful morning at the coffee shop, Lori...very peaceful. I agree with Creatology, the hardest part is STARTING. I felt that way this summer with the writing I had to do. ;-)
I saw PIES - yes, a good omen indeed! Btw, Julie Anne let me know of a place that only makes pies around here in NoVA - I need to check it out! :-)

  14. Hi Lori, What a fabulous thing to do. I can't wait to read it. I go back in your posts & read about your life all the time. My husbands term for people like you was "colorful character." I think that Barry would be proud of you for turning a sad thing into something wonderful. I know that I am proud of you.

  22. Lori, you are such an inspiration!! I don't think I have enough good memories to record for anyone else to read! LOL I'm praying that as you dive into your retail season, that your head will be cleared with the cool weather and that your new out look will bring peace to your soul. We both know that stress is not helping those headaches. Relax....just go with it...
