Meet My First Bead Soup Partner, Patti Vanderbloemen

This Bead Soup Blog Party currently has 400 participants (and some are participating more than once!) so I divided the party into three mini-parties.  Well, "mini" isn't exactly the word when each reveal date has about 130 exuberant and talented jewelry designers!

As hostess, I'm participating in all three reveal dates, and for the first reveal, July 28th, I'm paired with Patti Vanderbloemen.  Patti sent me not one but TWO fantastic soups.  She made up these awesome photos for me, too!

This one is going to be my challenging one.  I don't work in black and white that often, for one, and these beads all have interesting patterns and textures so I'll have to make sure not to OVER design and make things too busy.  I'm also pretty new to working with lampworked head pins, so thrilled to have those to play with.

This one -- well, this one designed itself in about five seconds when I opened the box!  First of all, I LOVE chunky lampwork beads.  Love love love.  And the colors?  Awesomeness.  Tickled to have LeAnn's clasp and Lesley's head pins, too!  Loveity love love love.  Now let's hope the idea that sparked me will actually translate!

And here is what I sent to Patti:

You're probably wondering why I threw purple and red in the mix.  After all, the green, olive, and turquoise should be enough of a palette, right?  Well, they just said, "send me!".  I don't know why.  'Tis not mine to ask why, the beads just knew where they wanted to go and that was home with Patti.

You see olive Czech glass squares, pewter rings (small and large), bleached wood, purple Czech glass, purple carved wood, freshwater pearls, faux red suede, purple DMC cotton, and natural waxed cotton.  The focal is by Juls Cannon, and I made one of the clasps (along with the turquoise lampwork spacers) and the other clasp is pewter.  If you like that clasp, it's one in a set of five different clasps I have in my Bead Soup Kits store.

Be sure to come back July 28th to see what Patti and I (and over a hundred others!) make!

Where is Patti?

  8. Patti sent you a great mix of beads in both soups. Love the purple and red together with the olive and blue. Just the right touch of bold with that red. I really love seeing what everyone does in your bead soups parties and this one will be no exception.
