Could this be better than pie?

.
 .
Oh my goodness, y'all.

My friend Jen, who has been my friend since we had lockers next to each other, sent me a package today, and while I rarely talk here about things people send me, you MUST know about this.  (And speaking of gifts -- holy cow but Zack is a popular little dude and is always amazed at the things you guys send him.  He says an exuberant THANK YOU!)

But back to the Public Service Announcement, for which I hope you'll be thankful in the long run.

There's actually something I love as much as pie.

Bacon.

Ohhhhh crispy bacon.   And I haven't had it in a long, long, long time, either.  But I can put away some bacon if it's right there in front of me.

Jen, who writes a hilarious blog Jen on the Edge, used to have a long-running series of posts about chocolate.  To keep us from the calories, she graciously tried this one and that one and wrote up her thoughts on that one and this one.  And one that had me fascinated ---

Chocolate. Covered.  Bacon.

Let that sink in for a moment.

Is the next thing chocolate covered scrambled eggs?

No, because that would be gross.  And packaging could prove problematic.

But BACON.  That I can wrap my brain teeth around.

Thanks to migraine-tummy, I'll be trying these out tomorrow, but I'm already savoring them in my mind.

And my mind thanks you, Jen.

I had chocolate covered bacon at the fair last year. It was chocolate syrup drizzled over deep fried bacon on a skewer.. and while it was alright, I wasn't impressed. Not enough chocolate and.. seriously... DEEP FRIED bacon? nonnononono >.<

Your goodies look much more appetizing lol

I can't wait to see what you think about them.

And I'm still writing those chocolate posts, I just haven't done one in a while. Strangely enough, I'm thinking I'll do one this week or next, because I've had some duds recently that people need to be warned away from.

I love chocolate, and I love bacon. But to put them together, well I guess I would just have to try it.

I'm anxious to hear your review!

I love chocolate and I love bacon... But I just can't picture the two of them together ! They're all yours, Lori, no competition here ! :P

I have never heard of this, but I am skeptical...kinda like a deep fried snickers bar...does not compute! HOWEVER, I love salt and chocolate eaten simultaneously...you must post your findings, 'cause now I am so curious!!!

Wow - I can't wait to show this to Keith! He is a mad crazy lover of all things bacon! I adore my salted caramels, and when I first tried that I was a bit confused. Oddly, I think chocolate and mint should never meet, ever, and the only peanut butter I'll eat is the kind in a Reese's Cup. Chocolate covered bacon is worth a try, for sure! Have fun, can't wait to hear all about it!

I would love a plate of very thin, crispy bacon, and like you I have not had any in a long time. :(
I will take a little chocolate also, but not on my bacon. :-D
Enjoy your evening.

Oh my gosh - I had it last year... as an appetizer... at a VERY good restaurant - spectacular! This was really good, smoky, thick cut bacon that had been slow roasted and covered in semi-sweet chocolate. SO good - a couple of bites were enough to get us started. ENJOY! ~~T

Oh I've had those, and while weird, they are sooooo good! And even better, they are so decadent that it's easy to just savor a little at a time! Hope you enjoy! xoxox

Bacon and chocolate! I think I am in heaven. Two of my fave foods combined. Who would have thought.

Funny that you should blog about this. I JUST tried this choc. yesterday and I'm sorry to say that it just didn't do it for me. In fact, I ended up throwing the bar away because I'm trying to lose weight and why eat something like this if I don't truly love it, right? Still, it seemed so very wrong, the ultimate crime, to be throwing choc. in the trash. I hope you enjoy it more than I did!

Bacon is the new in for the sweet and savory combos, but bacon and chocolate, well that just does it for about everybody. Cute pic of the youngster! xox
