This Month's Cup of Bead Soup -- Genea Beads

Saturday, April 02, 2011

This month's Cup of Bead Soup bead artist is Genea Beads.  Give her a nice, warm welcome!

(Rah!  Everyone claps!!!)

For those of you new to my blog, the Cup of Bead Soup project is an extension of my Bead Soup Blog Party -- but for one.  A bead artist sends me beads, sight unseen, and I make something with them during that month.  It's a great way for me to stretch my creativity and introduce you to some awesome artists!

I love bright, fun colors and adore funky designs, and Genea's work typifies that.  But what will challenge me this month is one, the shape of her beads, and two, the accents she sent along with her handmade lampwork beads.

Let's check it all out, shall we?

First, handmade glass head pins (something I've yet to work with but have been dying to), a delicious hollow focal, and a pretty toggle.  The bag in the background is what everything arrived in (I am SUCH a sucker for pretty packaging!)

Next, a length of sari silk, a set of her "wing dings" (what a cute name!), some spacers, and what I've been grooving on ever since seeing it in the Bead Soup Blog Party -- a Tri-Flower Trumpet.

(We pause while Lori jumps up and down like a little girl.)

Did anyone notice these are all in my web site colors?

And last but not least, the fun set of "extras", all from My Elements.  Chain, tubing, rubber rings -- I'm really going to have to put my thinking cap on.

In the meantime, you can visit Genea Beads at the sites below.....

Lori Anderson creates jewelry for her web site, Lori Anderson Designs, and wrote the blog An Artist's Year Off.  She's also a contributor to Art Bead Scene.
