Cup of Bead Soup reveal #2.5 -- Summers Studio

Today I'm revealing more of the lovely ceramic beads made by Leann of Summers Studio.  I'm really quite pleased with this offering and hope you are, too!

For this piece, I decided to use the ceramic heart and the matching set of ceramic beads Leann sent.  I also decided use one of Susan Lenart Kazmar's  Industrial Chic links from the pile I've been hoarding.  Then I pulled out my box of wood beads I've collected from Beads and Pieces.  I've been working more with wood lately for the fall and like how a few pieces here and there can really add that certain "something" to a piece.

Here you go:

"Exclusive Heart"
Let's break it down.

One side of the necklace features five of the 12mm ceramic beads, capped with a tiny piece of wood I rescued from a vintage necklace.  The wood is as tiny as a seed bead.  Along the other side, I used one ceramic bead, a couple of faux bone beads, and one of Susan Lenart Kazmer's links.  The word in the resin isn't complete, but you can tell when you hold it that it would say "exclusive".  And just like I did with the first necklace I made with Summers Studio's beads, I made a hook-and-eye clasp to fit into the chain that will go around the back of your neck.

You can't see it, but there's a "c" before the "lusive" on the SLK link.

So there you have it -- "Exclusive Heart" -- ready to find a home.

Now comes the "0.5" part of the post.  Leann didn't send this baby owl bead to me, but I bought it a long time ago and it's what attracted me to her store in the first place, so I had to share.  As you can see way above in her shop ad, the owl is a talisman of sorts for her, and something she's known for.  About 20mm tall, it's the perfect size for a bracelet bead.

"Owl Be There"
Once again, a piece of wood, and a single lampwork bead by Dora Schubert compliment the owl.  So, this is where my love for Summers Studio started!

With the holidays upon us, Leann's Etsy shop is on vacation, but with a click of a button, you can be notified when she returns!  Buy a few beads and join in the fun!

  4. That is just stunning!! I love the blue-green with the wood--that pendant is absolutely gorgeous. I also like the silver spacers you used, the twisted texture on them is a nice contrast to the smooth ceramic beads. The large link chain is just right too. Bravo!!

  17. Love what you've done here! Of course. The bracelet is very sweet and the necklace gorgeous and so interesting to look at - I particularly love that exclusive link you've used. I've also been working a little with wood recently - I would never have said it was my style before, but I have enjoyed paring wooden rounds with art beads.
