Fire Mountain Gems Back Cover Artist

I had the pleasure of being interviewed by Jessica King of Fire Mountain Gems recently, and the interview is now up on their web site (click here if you're interested!). You can also see four of the designs I've submitted over the past few years that were finalists in their annual contest (click here for that).

During the interview, it really hit me -- I really do love what I do. It was a big change from the IT world, and while the IT sales job brought in great money, I didn't love it (or even like it towards the end), and ultimately, no amount of money is worth it if you get dread getting out of bed to go to work.

I hope you'll take your love -- whatever it happens to be -- and let it grow and blossom and cultivate it into something you're proud of. It doesn't matter if you're sitting down at the bead torch for the first time, or making the hundredth elaborate seed bead creation -- if you're passionate about it, your excitement for the craft will show in your work.

Now, go make something!

  1. I'm so glad you've found your bliss. I'm still trying to figure out mine.

  2. Bloom where are planted works only if the place you are planted happens to be where you want to bloom. So, follow your bliss as Jen said means: find the right thing, give it your all and bloom in the joy of doing it.

You are, and your bliss will follow you all the days of your life.

  3. Somepeople never find an interest in anything. I always feel sorry for them. I'll never make jewelry making my career but it sure is nice to have something to hurry home to after work. I'm never bored and I'm always happy at home.

  4. Hi, Lori,

Thanks for sharing your talents and speaking in favor of following your heart. It's advice we all need to be reminded of. :)

And I hope you're thinking ahead to the 2009 Rings & Things "Your Designs Rock" contest. Looks like we'll have a high level of competition if someone as creative as you enters!

    Cheers,
